Head Setter - Corrugated Converting


The Head Setter reports to the Shift Supervisor. The position is responsible for safely performing assigned tasks throughout the facility.


Essential Functions

  • The Head Setter works as part of a Team lead by the Machine Operator.
  • Primary responsibility is to set slotting, scoring and/or cutting heads via a computer interface.
  • Assist with the mounting and registration of printing plates and cutting dies.
  • Observe and implement appropriate safety practices while performing all duties and follows all applicable laws, codes and standards, safety and environmental regulations and departmental and agency policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Record required production data into PDE.
  • Perform basic Preventive Maintenance activities according to schedule.
  • Perform general housekeeping of work stations.
  • Identify, segregate, label and quarantine non-conforming materials.
  • As required, must place Load Tags on each unit that are located properly and indicate the correct item specifications and quantities.
  • Assist in the preparation of corrugated sheets for converting including, removing straps, dunnage and any damaged or otherwise un-usable sheets.
  • Identify, track and record waste.
  • Work in other areas when necessary as determined by Supervisor.


  • All Applicants must:
  • be 18 years of age at time of hire.
  • read, write, speak and understand English.
  • be able to lift 35lbs alone.
  • be able to stand and work 8-12 hours per day Monday - Friday.
  • be able to work overtime weekends and/or holidays as needed.
  • be able to use a computer, mouse and keyboard.
  • achieve 70% on General Shop Math and Tape Measure Reading Tests.
  • be able to read and understand a Job Ticket
  • be able to operate a multi-function machine.
  • possess understanding of manufacturing standards including joint gap widths, slot
  • depth, print and die cut registration, scoring allowances, crush and overall carton
  • dimensions.
  • measure and adjust the pH and viscosity of inks as required.
  • measure and record the thickness of corrugated sheets and converted product.
  • possess some mechanical aptitude.
