The Microbiology Technician has primary responsibility for preparing, processing, and reading Microbiology samples as per SOPs. The Microbiology Technician keeps the general environment in the lab clean and in an aseptic condition.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

- Aseptically performs sampling, plating, and testing of product assigned for microbiology analysis according to written methods and SOPs.
- Media preparation, sterilization and storage.
- Prepare and manage chemical reagents and buffers for the use in microbiology laboratory
- Use of the appropriate stains and instruments for organism identification.
- Use of scientific equipment to incubate, read and identify microorganism growth.
- Read, describe and report the micro-finding of tested samples.
- Proactively maintain and document records in accordance with established procedures
- Use a variety of specialized equipment such as microscopes, Petri dishes, test tubes, rapid identification kits of bacterial strain and other equipment used in the microbiology laboratory.
- Experienced with the use of protective lab equipment.
- Document, enter, transcribe, record, store or maintain information in written or electronic form.
- Ability to work independently or within the team and lift to 20 pounds.
- Perform and maintain regular cleaning of the lab and equipment.
- Other responsibilities, as assigned by senior management.


  • Education and Experience:
  • - Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, cell biology, biochemistry or similar field required
  • - One year of minimum experience in a pharmaceutical or food microbiology laboratory
