Description

The Formulation Scientist independently conducts Research and Development activities including evaluation and selection of raw materials, pre-formulation and formulation development studies for oral solid dosage form.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Define and execute development strategy for dietary supplements
Work closely with AR&D department to evaluate the analytical results of R&D and stability batches
Work with AR&D department to create raw material specifications and finish product specifications
Create master manufacturing records for R&D projects
Write and review R&D reports and protocols (challenge studies, source qualification reports, product development reports)
Participate in second source program to define equivalent source of active ingredient based on scientific rationale
Communicate effectively with team members, internal or external customers and other functional groups
Troubleshoot scale up issues during R&D and initial launch at production level
Write and review deviations and investigations in MasterControl
Train and mentor new employees
Other  projects as directed by senior management

Qualifications

  • ◦BS, MS degree in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related life sciences
  • ◦Minimum 5-10 years experience with dietary supplements
  • ◦Hands on experiences with mixers, granulators, mills, FBD, tablet presses, in-caps, tablet deduster, capsule polisher, hardness tester, friabilitor, coater, roller compactor, extruder and spheronizer
  • ◦At least 5 years of prior experience with formulation development of oral solid dosage form
  • ◦Knowledge and understanding of the FDA cGMP requirements
  • ◦Outstanding oral, written and communication skills
  • ◦Desire to work in a fast-paced manufacturing facility with unlimited career growth potential
